Mealtimes in France
Le Petit Dejeuner
Traditionally french people do not eat a large Breakfast. Instead of eating fruit, cereal, meat or eggs as many people would, the french choose out of a large variety of breads and pastries. they wouold normally eat Baguette with butter, brioche, croissant or a pain au chocolat. the most popular drink to have at breakfast is a type of coffee called cafe au lait. the most common drink for children is a hot chocolate.
Le Dejeuner
Only recently lunch became one of the main meals of the day. Lunch is definitly not the most important meal of the day for french people as many workers skip this meal, however, children still have this meal at school. on the weekends though many families will sit down and have a large lunch as a family especially on sundays. Traditional lunchs would consist of four courses:
une entree or un hors d'oeuvre which would be salad, egg dishes or cold meals.
un plat principal which would be fish, poultry or meat served with sauce and accompanied by many vegetables.
des fromages which would have a selection of cheese.
un dessert which would have fruit tarts, sorbets, crepes, ice cream and cakes.

Le Diner
Dinner is normally sereved later in france becasue children finsh school later. Dinner often consists of soup as well as other courses. Leftovers from midday meal are often served and eaten at night. Bread is normally served with both lunch and dinner.
Les Boissons
France is famous for its wine but also its mineral wate. Adults often wine at lunch and dinner. A bottle of mineral water is normally placed on the table for others to drink.
